Rotherham records
« on: Thursday 25 June 09 13:01 BST (UK) »

Does anyone know how far back Rotherham parish records go?  I live in the south and don't want to plan a trip up there, if they don't have what I'm looking for.  I want  to see if I can get any further back than:-

Elias Law born 7 Sept 1778, baptised 13 Sept 1778 at Rotherham All Saints, parents John and Mary.  There are other baptisms in the same church (Hannah 1774, Elizabeth 1776) to John and Mary.  I have also seen reference to John baptised 1771, father John.  I know the family lived in Scholes, and can follow Elias through to his burial in Wath in 1854.  I would love to bo backwards from him though.

Any offers of help gratefully received!!
