Hi -
I am trying to find the SMITH family in Coventry in 1871/81. I have found them in the 1861 census living in Cox Street, St Michael's and listed as John SMITH Head 1829 Ann Wife 1829 Ann daughter 1851 Elizabeth daughter 1854 Selena daughter 1858 Ann Cleary mother in law 1787
I was wondering if anyone could find them? I know that Elizabeth married and settled in Leicester, but don't know whether the whole family moved and, if so, when that happened.
Any help gratefully received

Hi Julie -
Wondered if I could be REALLY cheeky and ask you if you would mind looking up another burial on your disc? Ann Maria SMITH who died in the Sept 1/4 of 1862 and Ann Maria SMITH who died in the March 1/4 of 1866. Want to see if either of them are mine.
If you can't, that's no problem - I am really appreciative of all your previous help!

Hi ,
By 1871 it appears John has remarried and moved to Leicestershire abt 1870
1871 Census Leicester,Leicestershire RG10/3270/75/33
John SMITH,head,mar,40,elastic weaver, born Coventry Sarah,wife,35,silk weaver, born Coventry Elizth,daug,17,nurse girl,Coventry Selina,daug,13,machinehand, Coventry Tom,son,9,scholar,Coventry Jane,daug,10,scholar,Coventry Alice,daug,6,Coventry John,son,1,Leicester
I cannot be sure of Sarahs maiden name as John could have just married her abt 1870 in Coventry or Leicester and John aged 1 would then be their only child together.

By 1881 John snr has died;
1881 St Margarets,Leicester RG111/3517/82/30
Sarah SMITH,head,46,widow,silk winder,born Coventry Jane,daug,unm,20,machinist,Coventry John,son,12,scholar,Leicester EMILY,daug,unm,7,Leicester
So we have another child Emily born abt 1874. Narrows down possible death for John 1873-1881
1891 Sarah, John and Emily are still together in St Margaret Leicester. Too many possible marriages for Jane
1901 just Sarah 65 and Emily aged 26 are at home.

Thank you for this Trish - I had managed to gather this information myself since posting, but I really appreciate your help. Am now trying to find out who Sarah was - think she may have been Sarah BRADSHAW who married a John SMITH in Leicester in 1868, but not sure.
