Stag and Pheasant Yard, Leicester
« on: Thursday 25 June 09 20:11 BST (UK) »

Hi -

Can anyone tell me where the Stag and Pheasant Yard was in St Margaret's, Leicester? I have just found some people living there in the 1881 census and am trying to place it in relation to the rest of the family.

Thank you

Sarah, Jane, John and Emily SMITH were the people I found, with Sarah as the head of household and the others recorded as her children. Thanks for the link.

Hi Treegirl

Looking at the census route it was off Charles street, Leicester. Looking at a modern map, there is a Charles Street that runs across Humberstone Gate, Leicester,

On the census route it mentions Gallowtree Gate, Halford Street, Free Lane, Lower ?? Lane, Charles Street.  The one's in red are still there, or were according to my route finder, which is a couple of years old.
