Hello Rootschatters, please help me to sort out this problem.
We are all well aware of the discrepancies in spelling when we are researching. . . . . . . . . . .
When I discovered that on 29. 5. 1780, at St Nicholas Parish Reg & Nonconf, Newcastle, my ancestor William Boag (c1759) took a lady named Mary Brown as his bride, I thought I had definitely hit a brick wall.
I found at least 177 Mary Browns born in Northumberland between 1745 - 1762! Roll Eyes
One small clue might be that one of William & Mary's daughters was given the name  Sibbella.
I discovered a Mary Brown christened at St Nicholas etc  on 30. 1. 1749, father John Brown & mother Sybbill.
A John Brown married Sibbald Creighton on 25. 8. 1747 at St John's Newcastle.
Have I found Mary Brown's parents?
There was also a Sibla Creighton christened on 11. 9. 1748 at St James Blackett St Formerly Silver St Indep Or Pnewc, Newcastle - parents James Creighton & Jane.
Could James be a brother of Sibbald Creighton?
A James Creighton c 1720 of Bishop Middleton married Jane Sewell 26. 1. 1745 at Bishop Middleton, Durham.
A Jane Suel was christened 25. 3. 1717 at Bishop Middleton -parents John Suel & Alice.
Have I found Mary's family?
