Hi
John McCallum was killed in a car accident not the same one as his wife, within a few years of her death. I dont know when or where or burial. I would love any background that can be located on John's family before and after NZ.

You most certainly may ask a query.
To the best if my knowledge from oral family history John was indeed believed to be Irish.
His marriage certificate states his place of birth as Londonderry, Ireland.
His usual residence is Wanganui, as is the place of residence at time of marriage.
I have seen various spellings of his mothers surname., as below. (just thought Id pop this in as I have no marriage date or place for Johns parents. In fact no history of either before John.
First name : Eilen/ Elen/ Ellen
Surname: Reisen / Reazin / Regin
I do believe I located the burials for the father at Karori Cemetery, although his age would be out,( dob 1824-130 c) occupation is correct.

Hi Annie,
Thanks for that info, the McCallum who married the Darrach from the PEI site is descended from John. I actually provided the gedcom for that tree ( even the spelling error in the name Winifred, lol). I know there are other McCallum from PEI who arent related to this line at all, to my knowledge.
The Karori Cemetery info I had seen before, but it is interesting as on the actual l register wife Ellen isnt named, there is only a burial for "McCallum" in the same area as Robert, so I guessed that it had to be her after I had seen the Karori "Our Stuff" web page.
I will add burial info here for others to see, I believe that William, is the son and brother if John, but I only have cemetery info to tye them together so far, I havent prooven if the other Mc Callum named are connected or not.
NB: The age of death for Robert is diferent ?? John's wife and likely children are in a different section.

The BIVRI is the British Isles Vital Records Index, they cover England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. They comprises of a set of 16 cd's that cover Births and Marriages they are not complete by any means but do have some records that IGI does not have.
The set comprises of app 10.4 million birth and christening records and 1.9 million marriage records. The civil and church records as a partial collection dating from 1530 to 1906. This subject has been discussed many times on this forum so if you search rootschat you will more than likely find other discussions on the topic.
