Member or Guest...?
« on: Friday 25 February 05 18:38 UTC (UK) »

Hi all,
Just noticed this happening to me today: when I log in, I'm greeted with Hello, ~meg.  But when I click 'Welcome', I become a Guest. Click on 'Home', back to being a member.

Am I going through an identity crisis, or is there a glitch in the system?

?meg

Is it because the 'Home' page has not refreshed itself?

Try 'reload' and see what happens

Hi Pauline,
I've reloaded, refreshed, logged out, logged in, logged out and turned off.

Have returned to give it another go, but it is still happening.

PS: I see Berlin-Bob is experiencing the same thing. Nice to know one is not alone when you think something odd seems to be going on!

Hmm... that's a very strange one isn't it. I still seem to be member on the welcome page (give it time thought - I might have the same problem too in a bit!).

If you perhaps check the Blocked Cookies topic at the top of this board, to see if cookies are being blocked perhaps.

The "Welcome" page is just a landing page in a way - so you're not missing out - once you have clicked on the home page then all the functions are there for you, so it's not that bad (just a bit quizzed as to what might be broken!)

Hi Trystan,
I checked the Blocked Cookies topic, and there was no problem there.  I'm still being greeted as a guest when I click on both 'Welcome' and the RootsChat.com logo.

My initial concern was that perhaps there was a problem with my computer, but when Bob noted that it was happening to him, too, that solved that!

That just happened to me too, I couldn't find a reply button on a post I was looking at, Trystan had replied to it so then I went to Trystan's profile, because there was no PM symbol on the page, no pm stuff there either, then I scrolled around and found I was a guest! so logged in, and all is now well.
They do it to confuse me!

UPDATE:  My identity issues appear to have been solved.  RootsChat now recognises me as a member no matter what icon/logo I click on.

Thank you to the powers that be!
