In September 1850 a Mr Sharp was sacked from Wolverton Railway Works on suspicion of having published anonymously a book (or maybe just a leaflet) entitled "Sketches of Wolverton Characters".
Its publication upset several of the foremen in the Works; so much so that they complained to the Board of Directors of the railway, hence Sharp's dismissal. If a copy has survived, it might be an interesting read - and might contain some useful (or even scurrilous) info on named people who lived in north Bucks at that time.
Years ago I tried the local library and asked a couple of knowledgeable local historians, but drew a blank. Has anyone ever seen, or heard about, such a publication?
