Hi,

You may also want to take a look at www.lan-opc.org.uk for Hindley.  Look at Burials for the surname Hull - scroll down to the full surname index for all years  Grin  They were possible Roman Catholics hence the "silent burials" and "Romanist" in the notes.

Regards,
Mo

I am even more confused, ha.  The correct address for John James is 2 behind prince of wales pub, off market st hindley, my dad has his birth cert which says William was born in 1831 in Denton and Margaret in Chorley.  the plot thickens.

Well if she was Margaret Fairbrother, there is one in 1851 HO107; Piece: 2200; Folio: 119; Page: 18
Margaret Fairbrother, 22 yrs born c 1859 Chorley with mother Jane and stepfather David Jones- living in Mill Lane Hindley  (where the Hulls were also in 1851)

Sue,

there is a baptism at Manchester Cathedral for a William Hull 1831 to a John Hull and Harriet.
This is the only one for a child with parents of those names.  Huh
Something for you to check at the Library  Grin

If Margaret was 22 in 1851 this coincides with the Margaret in my tree born in Chorley c1828.

righto- you need to verify these things:

If your dad has the birth certificate for John J - it will have Margaret's maiden name.

From that you can look for the marriage certificate.

Get that and you will have William and Margaret's fathers' names and then you can make sure through censuses.

No I don't but my grandfather did and it was just convenient to use at the time  Grin
(I'm Kath)

The christening is on Family Search IGI - 20 November 1831 - whether it is them though is a different matter.

If you did decide that this was the right family- preferably after getting John verified as William's dad from the marriage certificate- you could get Jane's birth certificate for Harriet's maiden name  Grin
