Hi Patricia

Bacup is under Rossendale Council and there are a number of cemeteries there - shown on link below - including Bacup Cemetery, which opened in 1862.

http://www.rossendale.gov.uk/site/scripts/documents_info.php?documentID=601#pagenavbox

Many Councils have information about tracing a grave and I note there's an email enquiry link on the page.

Hope it helps

New to this website/finding it a bit confusing. But here goes. I live in Bacup and the cemetry is 5 mins away. There is a separate part for the Catholic burials and it is very likely that he would have been buried there. Next time I visit I will see if I can spot the grave
