Hello Chatters, I'm looking for a bit of tech. help, please. I use windows xp professional. I have Office 2007 (home and student version) which has Word, Excell, Power Point, and One-Note. I use Outlook Express for email. Just recently when attempting to reply to posts on threads of various Rootsweb Lists, the startup wizard for Outlook 2007 jumps onto the page. Outlook 2007 is not part of my Office suite, and I dont wish to install/buy it. When I eventually remove it from the page my new message window doesn't appear, so I use the address book to find addresses and then send the reply. I have used a reset point and the microsoft diagnostics. Still can't get rid of the wretched wizard. Any suggestions, please? Frank

What do I know, but I've had the same problem ... After some Windows Updates, the default mail gets changed from Outlook Express to Outlook, even if you don't use it, and when you click on a mail link there is a (futile) attempt made to open Outlook. If you open Outlook Express, and click on Tools > Options > General, and check whether it is the default programme. If not, click on the 'Default' button, and you should be OK ...
... until the next Update

Thanks Sue. I did what you said. Seems to work ok now. Also had an error report from microsoft this morning relating to Office, which I sent as requested. Word updates were probably the culprit, even though I avoid Outlook. Frank

Microsoft haven't included Outlook as part of the Home and Student version of Office 2007, so unfortunately it's not an option. That version has made it affordable for the masses which is great, but it only comes with Word 2007, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote - I think a lot of the adverse comments about Home and Student are about the absence of Outlook.
