Can anyone look-up the birth and/or marriage records for Henry Dorman (1799-1854). Henry was a stone mason in Uppingham and is listed on the 1841/1851 censuses. I believe that he was born in Uppingham or the immediate area, and that his wife's forename was Mary. I would like to establish the names of Henry's parents, and the surname of his wife Mary. They would be my g/g/g/grandparents.

Hi, have found some information that hopefully may help your search.
The most likely Henry Dorman I can locate was christened on 28/March/1802 at nearby Laxton just over the border in Northants. His parents are named as Thomas Dorman and Ann.
There are two marriages which may fit the bill. One is Thomas Dorman marriage to Ann Cluley on 18/Jan/1798 at St. Philips Birmingham. The other is Thomas Dorman born c1770 at Tugby Leics marriage to Eliza born Tugby c1774 at Tugby in 1795. Obviously the latter is nearer to your search area, but the wife has the wrong first name.
The nearest marriage to the likely dates I can so far locate for a Henry Dorman is to a Mary Briers on 5/Nov/1823 at St.Margarets Leicester.
Even if these are not the ones you are seeking , perhaps it may lead you to other clues.
Good luck. TL

Charles Dorman's birth occurs after civil registration and you can order a copy of the birth certificate for 7 pounds from GRO.
From FreeBMD: December Quarter 1837, DORMAN Charles, Uppingham 15, 551.
