Wondering what his father's details are and who the witnesses were?
Thanks

Hi Meliora
Yes I'm well aware of that.
However I've been out of work for 5 months after being made redundant so cannot justify the expenditure especially as its a distant sideline.
So if sks could do me a favour, I'd be grateful.

Hi Dawn
They were on a pedigree on ancestry so I do take them with a pinch of salt. However, judging by the fact they have a lot of the marriage and death dates (which aren't on familysearch although some baptisms are), I suspect this person may have purchased a copy of the certificates. I'd just like to confirm that it is the correct George Bayntun and not someone clutching at straws. As the marriage is before 1851 and the family had moved into London from Berkshire between 1841 and 1851 (and George didn't always cite his birthplace on the census), I'd like to confirm he is the correct George I've found in 1841 (ie. from his father's details), since the remainder of the family can be confirmed from subsequent census etc.

Hi Nicola
From the marriage register St Mary Newington
17 September 1848
George Bayntun, full age, bachelor, Porter, (of) Hargrave Place (father) Henry Bayntun Porter
Sarah Ann Wilis, the same, spinster (of) Webb St (father) John Willis Porter
were married after Banns
George & Sarah signed their names
in the presence of
Samuel Tunstall (I think, signed) Jane Willis (signed)
Hope this helps
Dawn

Hi Dawn
Thanks for that. The groom's father's name is right, however his profession is a bit way off. Will have to have a dig about to see if there is a Henry who was a porter ... might put the cat amongst the pidgeons, although allegedly one of the children's birth certificates lists his profession as an accountant ... he seems to have been an engraver according to the census!
