Ocle Pychard churchyard?
« on: Saturday 27 June 09 10:03 UTC (UK) »

Hi everyone

I wonder  if someone could tell me if a man (Arthur Henry Eversham) who died in Ocle Pychard 25 September 1915 could have been buried in Ocle Pychard  please? Does the church have a graveyard and were burials still taking place in 1915 or was it full by then? Alternatively, if the churchyard was full, where is he likely to have been buried?

Many thanks!

Would it be possible for someone to check on Ann Merrick...she was born in 1822 in Dilwyn as Ann Taylor...she married Edward Merrick b 1828 Norton Canon.....they then moved to Ochle Pychard....they are on the 1861 census...but Ann (Taylor) Merrick is not on the 1871 census in Ochle Pychard....I am presuming Ann died in Ochle Pychard between 1861-71...Ann was my 3 x g grandmother.....cheers..
Julie,I hope you don`t mind me adding this to your request ,but I live in Liverpool and if someone IS going to this churchyard it will do me a great favour......allan Wink

Hi guys,

If it ever stops raining, I can drive/float out to Ocle Pychard next week and check for you.

Let me know if you have found someone else to do it for you,

All the best,

Spider, that would be brilliant, thank you, although there's a strong chance my man is buried at Hereford Cemetery so my question was just a general one really! I just want to know if the church has a churchyard, to be honest, and whether it was still conducting burials in 1915.

Many thanks!

Hi Guys,

I had a mooch around OP churchyard today, but couldn't find either Arthur or Ann.  They were still burying in 1915 (still appear to have been burying in the 80s).  I got the addresses of the 2 churchwardens which I shall PM to both of you shortly, so perhaps you could write and see if they have any inside knowledge!

Sorry i wasn't more successful,
