Place Names?

Hi

Having trouble making out a couple of place names on census returns! Has anyone heard of either Brayford or Chipping Buckland/Buckden in Herts

Have you tried here:
http://www.joinermarriageindex.com/pjoiner/genuki/HRT/parishes.html

If you give us the reference numbers and names of people on the census we can check for you.

Using my link above, there appears to be a Bayford ....

.... and a Buckland (no Chipping) ....

Hi Ian,

Chipping is a hamlet on the A10 road some 2 miles north of Buntingford whilst Buckland is about a mile further.
