The marriage, 5 Nov 1829, St. John Parish, just says :
Nathaniel Hall, bachelor of St. Andrews Parish, marrying Ann Hackworth, spinster, of this parish. No occupation given. Witnesses are Thomas Bowey and Margaret Robison.
He was definitely a very busy man whether he was the younger Nathaniels father or not. Unless there were 2 of them, he changed career several times.
Alan.

morning all
nathaniels daughhter isabella did indeed marry she married john pattison on 20th jan 1862 at st johns newcastle, and it would seem that she died 1873 though i havent yet sent for her death cert.her husband can be found in the 1881 living at 7 biss street? bishopwearmouth with the children, and the 1901 census he is living with daughter isabella and her family at 206 high street sunderland and still working as a glass maker. something else has given me food for thought as well,on the marriage cert of nathaniel and ann a witness was thomas bowey..nathaniel jnr and wife catherine turnbull had a daughter emily hall(my gt gt grandmother) and she married a matthew benjamin bowey, also from newcastle ..the photo i have on here is emily hall bowey the daughter of nathaniel and catherine

Any idea what happened to Thomas (age 7 in 1841 Census)?
There is this possible death record (out of the many Thomas Hall deaths):
Deaths 4Q 1842 Newcastle upon Tyne 25 214 Hall, Thomas Pearson

Hello Patsy
Just following on from Heywood's posting, is it possible, please, for you to tell us the names (and, where given, the relationship) of all those mentioned in the Will (not only the beneficiaries)?

hi audrey yeah i noticed that also as i wondered where the name had come from at first i thought nathaniels father but his name was edward and i couldnt see any more nathaniels,so i looked at his mothers line and noticed nathaniel twizel was popular within the family.the name has also been carried down through the hall/bowey family as well..and the strange thing is before i started tracing my family tree i was going to call my child nathaniel if she had been a boy,but when she turned out to be a daughter i named her emily..very strange..in my tree emily is nathaniel halls daughter...patsy

Thanks for the Will details: interesting but not very illuminating for our current purposes!
Just a few random thoughts:
It seems that Nathaniel Sen. had nothing against illegitimacy as such because Isabella's son John Nathaniel was illegitimate and yet benefited in the Will. So even if Nathaniel Jnr was born out of wedlock this would not necessarily have kept him out of his father’s Will.
However, it is strange that Nathaniel Jnr. and his brothers Edward and Thomas were not even mentioned in the Will. Perhaps Isabella had looked after Nathaniel Sen. when Eliz. Davison became too old to do so and he thought that Isabella deserved the inheritance.
As Nathaniel Jnr's daughter Isabella was born 1858(?) it is perhaps not unusual that he named his daughter after his sister - at that time he didn’t know the terms of the Will!
Thomas Twizell Hall also seems to have had a daughter called Isabella Pearson Hall born Salford 1868 and again this was before Nathaniel Sen. died - perhaps Thomas didn't know the terms of the Will either!
I also notice that John Pattison’s bride was specifically Isabella Pearson Hall: that referred name “Pearson” yet again!
8 Prudhoe Street seems to disappear after 1881!
I have again gone through the 1841 and 1851 censuses on Ancestry and FMP but can find no-one who is likely to be your Nathaniel.
Did Ann Elizabeth Hackworth leave a Will?
Ivan

hi ivan
thankyou for all the lookups you are doing for me on this...i can find no connection with the name pearson, but it is used very regularly at the time within the hall family, i just looked at nathaniels will and its dated 31st august 1867..and checking his death cert and cause of death it says epilepsy 12 months and apoptary 24 months and he died in 1869 so i am assuming he made this will shortly before or just after first falling ill. i havent found the death date for certain for ann so havent looked if she left her will..ann hall is a pretty common name when searching over a few years ,all i can be sure of is she died between the birth of isabella in 1836 and the census of 1841 when nathaniel is a widower. nathaniels son edward would have been dead by the time he made the will as he died in 1857 at the age of 27 and seems to have been unmarried.but it doesnt answer why he didnt include thomas or indeed nathaniel (if it is his son).it seems that there is more questions then answers regarding nathaniel jnr
