Deaths of Christinia and Edmund Wilkinson
« on: Saturday 27 June 09 16:06 UTC (UK) »

My 3x Great Grandparents were Christinia (nee Ridding/Redding) and Edmund Wilkinson.  I am fairly sure that I have found them on the 1841 census living in Eccles.

Edmond Wilkinson 56. born abt. 1785 in Lancashire. Stone Mason
Christiana Wilkinson 50. born abt. 1791 Not born in Lancashire.
(She came from Kirkby Lonsdale area in Westmorland)
Edward Wilkinson born 1821 in Lancashire. Joiners  Apprentice.

I am unable to find their deaths. Could anyone help me with this brick wall, please? I can not find Christinia and Edmund on the 1851 census, but I can find Edward and their daughter Isabella who was born in Rochdale in 1826.

Megran,
Do you have the reference for that 1851? I haven't located it.

MBW,
Is the 1851 entry for Edward, the one born and living in Haslingden?
Not this one - just seen other post:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,389195.msg2607981.html#msg2607981

found him in St Helens

I'm just thinking that the relevant places  are a bit scattered.
The death of the Christiana I found, would fit with the 1841 entry in Eccles.

I am assuming that Isabella is married? There are a few Isabellas in 1851 born Rochdale but none are Wilkinson.

Where is she in 1841? She would only be 15 yrs or so?

Lastly, parts of the 1851 census were damaged , including parts of Salford and Pendleton. I have tried a name search and a street search for Ford Lane where they were in 1841 but no results.  http://www.1851-unfilmed.org.uk/intro.htm

I love this web site!!!  Thank you Heywood, bikermickau and Megran for your interest and help.

I assumed that Isabella was working away in 1841 census. She marries William Brown, but don't know when.

Edmund was a Stone Mason which is why I am sure that it is him on the 1841 census. I think I will send for the 1852 death certificate for Christiana W. It is in the right area and will let you know the result.

I have been searching for these two for about 5 years and had even begun to believe that they were still around!!!!
Thank you all again for your help

Some of my ancestors lived in Ford Lane, and I know the 1851 census records for it are particularly badly affected by the water damage. Sadly, there is very little left so if your Wilkinsons were there you're unlikely to find them.

Not sure if this is relevant, but www.lan-opc.org.uk has a few burials for St Thomas Pendleton (which is pretty much in Ford Lane), including a 59 year old Edmund WILKINSON in December 1849 (also a couple of other WILKINSONs) This might be the same Edmund WILKINSON whose death shown on freebmd as Manchester Q4 1849.

There is a possible marriage on lancashirebmd for Isabella WILKINSON to William BROWN at Eccles, St Mary's in 1852.
