Hello,
Does anyone know if Liverpool Records Office holds information on Jewish immigrants to the city? I may have Jewish Ancestry, and am going to visit the records office when it opens next week.
Also, can anyone tell me what kind of records they hold as I'm not very good at going in there. I always feel a bit intimidated and not academic enough. I have braved the microfiche and searched the bmd indexes, but that's about all.

Hiya,
Have a look at the Merseyside Aliens in this link.

I think they do have records there because my friend often goes there and she is looking for her Jewish Ancestry.
Good Luck !

I made a suggestion to you on the other site, that if you go on Tuesday afternoon when the Liverpool & SW Lancashire FHS have their Help Desk, you won't feel intimidated and they will be able to make many suggestions and advise.

Would you like to tell us a bit more about these ancestors (names, dates, countries of birth)? We can perhaps provide some more general information to support your visit to the LRO.
Justin

CaroleW Thank you for the link, will try to use it
Hello There, Looked at the site and didn't realise there were that many names to look at!
MaryA I will consider myself told off I know that you advised me to visit the office in relation to an enquiry I had made, but my confidence levels are on the floor. Yes, I know, that only I can pick them up, and I am trying, it might just take some time. You should have given me lines to write

I'll leave that to the girls and guys on the help desk - they're the experts and can give you loads of advice on where to look, try to make it Tues. pm when you can get there, I'm sure it'll be worth it.
