William Brighton
« on: Saturday 27 June 09 17:26 UTC (UK) »

I am looking to track down who married William Brighton in 1839 in Kings Lynn.

The marriage is in Free BMD and the four choices of wife are:

Henriette Adderson
Ann Bear
Elizabeth Huggins
Mary Elizabeth Lessons

Apart from getting the marriage certificate anybody got any ideas?

Thanks

Glen

Hi Glen,

Do you know when and where William was born?
(the idea being to find him on the censuses to check his wife's name)

The IGI has Ann Bear marrying Jonathan Bays.

The 1851 census has a Thomas Rusher living in Kings Lynn married to Henrietta.

The choice would appear to be between Huggins and Lessons.

1841   HO107/786/7
Wm Brighton, 25+, lab
Elizabeth Brighton, 30+
Robert B, 9
Susan B, 5
Miles B, 2
Mary B, 4m        all b in county

If these were the right people it would require at least Robert and Susan to be children from a previous marriage (probably Elizabeth's given the age)

Birth:

Dec 1849

Thomas Lessons Farr

Fairly strong evidence for the Farr/Lessons marriage, leaving only Elizabeth Huggins.

Later censuses show a William Brighton married to an Elizabeth bc1807 Kings Lynn, and there is an Elizabeth Huggins matching that on IGI.
