Hello Members
Can I please ask for your assistance?
The sons of George Shadrack SHELLARD - viz. George SHELLARD b c1878 Bristol went to South Africa
His younger brothers Robert SHELLARD b c1882 and Albert SHELLARD b c1884 both went to America [possibly NY Rochester].
In the 1881 Census Bristol - Household:
George Shadrach SHELLARD Head M Male 32 Bitton, Gloucester, England Wheelwright Elizath. SHELLARD Wife M Female 28 Bristol George SHELLARD Son Male 3 Bristol Elizath. SHELLARD Daur Female 1 Bristol ~~~~~~~~ Source Information: Dwelling 11 Park Row Census Place Bristol St Philip & Jacob Out, Gloucester, England Family History Library Film 1341602 Public Records Office Reference RG11 Piece / Folio 2497 / 34 Page Number 19 .........................................................
Is it possible to find out - if the brothers were still in england at the 1901 Census.
when and on what ships they travelled to their new country.
With thanks

There is a Household with Robert born-abt 1881 England with wife Nora F. C. born-abt 1883 England and brother Albert born-abt 1889 England
Robert and Nora show as married for 4 years, arrival date is 1907 so a good chance they married in England

G'day Biker Mick
Thank you so very much for the information you've assembled on my behalf.
Great work.
My sister married a SHELLARD in Potch. Potcheptroon] and they are now living in Launceston.
Through my searching, they have made contact with a branch of the Rochester family. Coincidently they are travelling to eastern Canada in September and will deviate to meet up with the newly-discovered branch.
Your research has put some icing [and filling] on the cake
Sincerely
Crabby

Hi My name is Julie and my maiden name was Shellard. I have connections to Gloucester but the names that you mention do not ring a bell. However, when you mentioned Canada that did. Do you know of Maureen Gill who lives in Canada she is also part of the Shellard clan?
Regards
Julie

Hi Crabby, Before Robert Shellard went to the US, he & younger bro. Henry/Harry went to Canada. They left in 1904 & were in there for the 1906 census, but Robert came back later that year & Henry/Harry came back in 1907. George Sharach (father) died in 1926. His father was also a George b 1809 & mother was Ann Jefferies. They m. in 1838. George's parents were Daniel 1778 - Jan 1854 & Judith Burgess 1782 - 1870. Daniel was buried 25 Jan at St Mary's church in Bitton & the officiating minister was Rev Henry N Ellacombe. Judith was buried at the same church on 4th Feb 1870, the same officiating minister. George Sharach's brother Joseph, was the publican at the Queens Head pub in Willsbridge in 1841 (about a mile from St Mary's church in Bitton). It is still open today although judging by the number of customers, it's struggling to stay open. I have attached a link with info on the pub & also there is a section on the Shellard family. It mentions Shellards road which was named after them. It's still there & there is a shop on it that I go to every day! If you want any photo's of the area, let me know as I live in Bitton. I am also part of a group of people who are mapping the church yard and transcribing the grave stones. We are 3/4's of the way through it. I will ask if any others in the group have found the Shellard plot yet if you'd like. Also, I have typed up all of the parish burial records from 1572 to 1992, so if you want me to check for any, let me know. I have more info on other siblings of George & Joseph if you would like that. Finally, the link with the Shellard info also notes that Daniel leased Londonderry Farm in 1833, that's still there as is Clack mill that is mentioned. Hello Karen
Thank you very much for your informative data: I have passed it on to my sister who is married to N G SHELLARD from South Africa. They now live in Tasmania where he is a Presbyterian Minister.
They are very appreciative of the time and effort you spent on their behalf.
