Hi,
if anyone is able, would it be possible to find out about a Richard Twine [sometimes spelt Twyne]. He worked [as a captain I think] on a ship called the Greyhound, circa 1768. I need anything on him please. I am trying to match up a Sarah Twine, my 4xgrt grndmother to him. I only know that she is the daughter of a Captain Twine. Im about to order her birth certificate but not sure if there is any link between them. She was born in 1764. Im approximating his age at about 20 at the time of her birth which would place his dob around 1744 but who knows how old he was.
All help appreciated,

ps what is the minimum amount of info I need to order a birth certificate?

Ruth,

Civil registration of births, marriages and deaths did not begin until the September quarter of 1837.  Find registration info at Genuki via Google.

You did not say where Sarah was born and perhaps somebody might have info. from there.

Hi Chas,
I know very little of her but assume she was born in Bristol. I may have to wait until I can get down there in December. She may have married in the church where her brother in law was the local vicar, a good a place as any to start I guess. I can feel myself turning into Miss Marple as we speak:)

Have you tried searching for her via the HW site - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountyGloucester_(A-M).htm#PageTitle ?

You will find more batches from parishes in Bristol in the list at
