Digging up the dead and annoying the living...
|
I have been trying without any success to find out why there are a number of places around Abinger with the name 'Paddington'.
I have found in the History of the County of Surrey that are three manors; Abinger, Paddington Pembroke, and Paddington Bray. It is also in the name of a farm that some of my lot lived in during the 1800s.
It would therefore appear to have been in existence for a long time, so I am guessing that it is unlikely to be linked to the Paddington area in London.
Is there anyone who might know how the name came to be associated with this area?
Thanks in advance - John

If you go to this site and scroll down to Manors there is information on Paddington Pembroke and Paddington Bray, though this may be the information you already have.

Thank you both very much.
It appears that there is no connection between the two Paddingtons then.
Strange that there are just the two of them...
