Hi,
According to the IGI my ancestor Sarah Butcher married Richard Redford on 9 Oct 1729 at Albury, Surrey. Would it be possible for anyone to check the original entry to see if any more details (witnesses, etc.) might have been given? I have searched for a marriage license online too but with no success, though they've helped a lot on other parts of the family tree. Any help is very much appreciated as I've gotten a bit stuck on Sarah's line since there were quite a few Sarah Butchers in the area.
Thanks, Alexander

Thank you for what you found, Jane. This one is a bit tricky because Richard Redford died in 1733, and I think they had two children - at least one of whom died in infancy. Richard Redford was the son of another Richard Redford, so it's been a bit difficult to distinguish between the two. It seems there's been a long line of Richard Redfords.
Regarding Sarah Butcher's baptism, I did see the IGI entry for the one in 1708 at Shere. There is also one in 1707 in Cranley. The thing is that after her first husband died, she remarried in Cranley in 1734. That makes me wonder if she originally came from Cranley, and after her husband died she went back there. The one in Shere is also a good possibility too though since it's so near by. That why I was hoping I might find a marriage license for them as I have found them for some of my other ancestors in the period...they often help a lot with places and ages. Sarah was 25 at her second marriage in 1734, and 38 when she died in 1746.
Thanks, Alexander

On the Surrey Plus Wills Index website, I just found a will for John Butcher of Cranleigh/Cranley in 1774 that mentions his cousin Miss Sarah Harbroe. This Sarah was the daughter of the Sarah Butcher who first married Richard Redford. Sorry it’s quite confusing. This indicates that John Butcher’s father was Sarah Butcher’s brother, so maybe the Cranley baptism is the correct one, not the Shere one. Unfortunately this will is not transcribed on the website so I'll have to find a copy of the will to get any further.
