LAMBETH St John, Marriage 1827
« on: Sunday 23 August 09 20:31 UTC (UK) »

Hello ,
Could anybody PLEASE help.
I'm seeking Marriage details for JOHN FREDERICK ELBOURN & ELIZABETH ARCHER on 18/4/1827 at St John the Evangelist, Lambeth.
In particular, I would like to know the names of the witnesses.
If someone could assist with this, I would be extremely grateful.
Thank you, Alan.

Hi Alan

From the marriage register St John the Evangelist, Lambeth

John Frederickx Elbourn of this parish bachelor (there is an 'x' above the k, see signature)
and Elizabeth Archer of this parish spinster
were married in this church by Banns
this 18th day of April in the year 1827
by me ? Rigg BA (can't read name)
This marriage was solemnized between us
John Frederic Elbourn (signed his name, no k)
The mark X of Elizabeth Archer
in the presence of
Augustus Lahuac ? (signed his name but hard to decipher)
Benjamin Allam ? (signed his name but hard to decipher)

Hope this helps, sorry I wasn't much use with the witnesses unless you recognise them.

Hello Dawn,
Thank you very much for that information.
It is quite useful.
AUGUSTUS CAHUAC was John Frederic(k) Elbourn's step Father.
Not sure who Benjamin Allam is - maybe just a friend, or possibly the church warden standing in as a witness.
I did wonder whether any of Elizabeth Archer's relatives were witnesses - but obviously not.
Thanks again for your help.
If you require any assistance with Essex ancestors (my local), I would be glad to try and help.
Kind regards, Alan.
