Would be very grateful for full details of a James CATON and all those living at the same address on 1871 census please. Would like details of the address also please.
What I know is;-
On the 1871 James Caton Born 1831 Kerry Ireland
Location Strand St Clement Danes,.
In 1861 ( on the census)he was said to have been born in County Cork and was living at Saffron Hill Holborn. Would appreciate details of those living with him and also the address.

Strand is the reg. district not Street. Is there another family name you are looking for as there are lots of families in the building?

Thankyou very much indeed Trish. Other family names are Power ( from Waterford) Barry from County Cork, Cullinane/Kellinan/Killinane from Conty Cork ; Harrington from County Cork;possibly Driscoll, Buckley, Leary

Hi Trish
The only one of those names I have firm details of is Michael Barry also known as Michael Killenan/Kellinann/Kellinane/Cullinane born between 1848 and 1855 in either County Cork, Tatsfield Surrey or Finsbury Middlesex. That is probably too wide a search. I know that his father was a John Kellinan. I know where he was in 1881 which was 12 Verulam Place St Andrews Holborn going under the name of Barry at that time living with "wife" Mary and 3 children. In fact he did not marry Mary until 1916 when he was going by his other name/s. I dont know where he was in 1861 or 1871

Found Michael in 1891. RG12/545/10/26. This time he is born Dorset 
Right man though, same wife and kids + lots of extra ones.
I have sent you details. Will keep looking but may take a few days.

Have sent details as you dont have access. Finding him in 1871/1861 could be a problem though

Thanks for the 1891 stuff. I did not have that info before. Can you tell me where his wife Mary Barry was said to have been born please. According to other records/censuses she was born in Heston Middx.

Mary is down as born Homerton, Middlesex. It does exist in the borough of Hackney

Thanks Trish. That is very helpful as it is the first indication that she may have been born in that area of London. She and her brother ( Mary and Daniel Caton) are said in other censuses to have been born in variously Heston or Hounslow Middx and I have not been able to find them there nor can I find baptisms. THere are close family links to Holborn/Saffron Hill/Strand/Islington areas so it may be that Homerton/Hackney is correct. I can now follow that up, including the RC baptisms
