In the absence of any dating info, I'll suggest that you look at 1901censusonline which will list occupations.
And then come back with some age/dating to help.

Tried your suggestion, Pauline, but found nothing that fittted.

Tried searches for a Harry(Henry) with wife Dolly(Dorothy) Carter in Acenstry & findmypast 1901 census, again, nothing found, so had a look at possible births for a Walter Frederick Carter poss. born W Ham or district as both given names are usually shown in birth reg entries.

Found this one.
Walter Fredrick Carter
Dec.  ¼ 1891   W, Ham   4a  89

Took a chance on lookingg for this in the 1901 census & found this but the mother's name is EMILY.

RG13/1574  folio 116  page 13
451 Barking Rd  W. Ham  Paistow

Henry Carter  head  age 37  Fruiterer(shopkeeper)   b  W.Ham
Emily  wife  age 33  b  St George
Henry  son  age 11   b   W. Ham
Emily  dau  age 12  b   ditto
Walter  son  age 9  b  ditto
Albert   son  age 7  b  ditto
Horace  son  age 4  b  ditto
Manel  dau  age 2   b   ditto

Checked the 1891 census for the wife's name

RG12/1324 folio 34  page 10
345 Barking Rd  W. Ham

Henry J.Carter  head  age 26   Fruiterer (Green)  b  W. Ham
Emily  wife  age 26   b  Mile End
Emily  dau  age 3   b  W. Ham
James Mason  relative  M  age 66   Fruiterer   b  Whitechapel
Joseph Mason   S  age 16  Carman  b  Radcliff

Possible marriage

Henry Carter  =  Emily Harrington
Dec ¼ 1882   W. Ham  4a  11

All of this is a big leap in the dark but worth looking at, I think, give that no other info was found that fitted.

So what would be the source of the 'info' in the first place?

what makes you list those names as parents?
What makes you think there is s suggested link with a greengrocery?
