Hi
If you have a copy of the marriage cert which shows their respective fathers names and occupations and names of witnesses - that is all that is available
Marriage certs do not show whereabouts either of the people were born

Patrick Neill was very helpful to me looking up an RC marriage .... but it didn't give any extra information in the parish records ... only the names of the bride and groom in Latin and date etc .... but you may like to look them up yourself ! Though it doesn't seem like he has St Silas ....

Hi
I checked several sites which list Liverpool churches as I hadn't come across a St Silas RC church and sure enough they only list St Silas C of E.
Maybe the cert you have is not written well and or maybe the RC was not clear?
Anyway, the following site (ppv but very reasonable cost and very good service) says it has marriage records of all the Liverpool RC churches and a name index.
http://www.liverpoolhistoryprojects.co.uk/
Just click on RC marriages
Some RC records do list extra information but many do not.
Hope this helps

There were two CofE churches in Liverpool called St Silas. One was in Pembroke Place near London Road. Its marriage registers are at Lpool RO, ref 283 SIL/3, microfilmed, listed as 1843-1944. The other was in High Park St, Toxteth Park. Registers 1865-1958 also at Lpool RO, ref 283 SLS /3... A

The Church of England is the Established Church; it is likely to be the one in Pembroke Place rather than High Park Street, though both were CofE. A

Hi
Quite a large proportion of marriages of people from other denominations, mixed or otherwise, at one stagfe took place in the Established Church, for historical reasons, including restrictive rules for some denominations, cost, etc.
This is a bit later than I've usually seen, but it's quite possible. Many went on to have children baptised in their own denomination including RC.
Best wishes

Hi Again
Have you tried Liverpool Recored Office for the register. According to "Finding Folk", (Lancahsire Record Office, Preston), the original was deposited there. If you have an actual date, you could try emailing them to see if they'll copy for you.

Hi
It's a bit of a mystery, but it looks as if it will be St Silas of the Established Church and unlikely to give extra information.
You say though, that you're looking to find where they came from in Ireland.
Have you tried looking at:
Records for the area in Ireland to which they went. Many people returned to the same area.
Census for 1911 and 1901 in the area they went to in Ireland, for their family and others of the same name. Much of 1911 is now on line, although, apparently, entries written in Ireland are not.
Witnesses on marriages in England on as many censuses as possible over here, to see if they ghive an area in Ireland, especially people of the same occupation if there is one
The same for people of the same name in England.
All a bit long winded, but that seems to be the way with Ireland!
Good hunting! Emms
