William Butler. Lower Upnor
« on: Sunday 28 June 09 15:10 UTC (UK) »

Hi everyone.

After a year of searching I have come to the conclusion that I really need some help! Would some kind soul please help me find the baptism of my GG Grandfather? Details I have are as follows:-

William Butler b 1795c Married Elizabeth Summers at St Marys Church, Dock Road, 11th Oct 1813. They lived in Lower Upnor. It is believed that William was born in Kent?

I am aware that there was another William born about the same year and also married to an Elizabeth, but this couple lived in Chatham, and are not my relatives.

I would appreciate any help at all.
Many thanks.
Liz

Hi Liz

Are you saying that they married in Chatham yet lived in Lower Upnor?  When were they living in Upnor and do you have names/dates/birthplaces/baptisms for their children so we know which of the two possible families we are looking at?

Hi Casalguidi.

Thank you for your reply. The info I have is as follows.

William Butler b 1795c marriage cert states of this parish! His wife was born in Gravesend. There children William 1814. John ? Elizabeth 1822. Mary-Ann 1825. Philip 1828. Elisha 1831. Ann 1836. George 1838. all children born in frindsbury and appear to have been baptised at Hoo St Werburg.
The 1841 census has them down as living Lower Upnor. Frindsbury.

I don't know if one or both were living in Chatham at the time of marriage?

Many thanks for helping. Hope this info is of use.
Liz
