Missing from Census
« on: Sunday 28 June 09 16:23 UTC (UK) »

I wonder if anyone can assist with finding my maternal grandmother  (Edith Blakeley)- in 1891 she was living at 8 Union Street Ince in Makerfield - in 1901 family were still there but grandmother is missing and I can't find her anywhere - in 1904 she married William James Blower in St George's Church Tyldesley - address shown on marriage certificate is 70 Shakerley Road Tyldesley.  i have tried a 1901 search for this address but she doesn't appear on that.  Her parents were Joseph Blakeley (born 1846 in Chorley) and Jane nee Heaton born 1849 in Haydock - some of her siblings were Sarah Jane, Ruth, Margaret and Christina.

I am also trying to trace my paternal grandfather Herbert Callister who doesn't seem to have existed between his birth in 1883 and his marriage in 1902 as I can't find him on either the 1891 or 1901 census.
His details are Herbert Callister (illegetimate son of Elizabeth Callister domestic servant) born 17.01.1883 at 7 Brighton Avenue, Gorton.
27.12.1902 he married Martha Alice Cheetham in St Georges Church Tyldesley.
In 1923 he was reported missing - found again in 1927 - admitted to Leigh Union Hospital left the hospital about July of that year and went missing again - I have since discovered his death - 16.07.1946 at 72 Delaunays Road Manchester (Prestwich Union Hospital) his address on his death certificate  was given as 24 Hood Street Ancoats.  He is buried in a public grave in Philips Park Cemetery.
If any one can assist with info on either of the above it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok,
what occupation did he have at 1902 marriage?
Did he have an address on the marriage cert?
What names witnessed?

Still none the wiser.
Can't find any marriages/deaths for elizabeth.
I can't even see his bride (or any kids) in the 1911 index.

A real mystery man...

Wouldn't know where to start - have very sketchy details about Elizabeth only know she wasn't married when she gave birth to my grandfather.  She apparently originates from isle of Man - don't know whether she was pregnant and sent over here to have the baby or whether she was already over here working as domestic servant and then fell pregnant.  Callister is very common name in Isle of Man (their equivalent of Smith!!) as I don't know anything about her i.e. age, place of birth, parents - I haven't been able to trace her at all.
