my gt.gt.grandad     Thomas Clarke was born 1830 in Shenton Hinckley ...

I have all his decendants etc..

what I am looking for is more on his ascendants....

his father John Clarke born    1795  possibly church lawford and his father Robert 
John married  Sarah Newman  orton on the hill...... in 1818....

but all I can find regarding Robert is a possible marriage to a Sarah in  1790

There is a submitted entry with batch no. for this marriage which just fits near birth of first child in 1826.
Marriage;
John CLARKE
Sarah NEWMAN, 11 October 1824, Stoke Golding, Leics

I know its confusing... my brain is 'addled'... ho hum

Anyhow  that is interesting regarding Stoke Golding... I will need to see how close to Orton or if that is the registration district of Orton..

Now I have Sarahs parents - and I have the fact that Johns father is Robert -
the 1841 census for Hinckley shows John and Sarah with Thomas and a grandaughter Sarah.. It states John born Warwickshire and Sarah born Orton on the hill....

Then I have the 1841 census for Church Lawford  that shows a Robert Clarke and Sarah  both aged 70 and that he was not born in the district but she was.......?

That is as far back as I have managed to get... I would like this Sarahsa maiden name and to see if this is the correct Robert and where he was born..
