not sure if Ann/Agnes is variations but still sure it is the correct people. My quest for census results apart from the usual info is trying to estabilish when John died poss between 1861/71 to get to the next step of his parents whoever they are, meaning I can then find his death record hopefully with parents names. Thanks for census results Fiona

Hi Diddy
I didn't mean for you to look up death record, sorry you have used your credits .I have that death record which is a very poor image. The death record states John died 1867 in a poorhouse Dunfermline and is a widower,Johns wife died in 1868,so John would still have been married. I have wife of John, Ann/Agnes nee Fulton death record 1868 and she is classed as widowed. On SP I have widened my search to include all of Fife area for John with no luck, unless the name has been badly transcribed. Another thought due to the fact he was a merchant seaman is he may have died onboard, anywhere . If you have any ideas they would be most welcome. Thanks Fiona

Hi Fiona and Diddy
Ann and Agnes are common variants (often also linked to Nancy). See www.whatsinaname.net
