Is there anywhere I can look up the above person who came from Ireland - County Down, to New Zealand around 1930ish. I would like to know what the name of the boat was and the exact date etc, the Kiwi eqiv of Ellis Island I suppose. I have found the WW1 medal for this person and would now like to find out this information and anything else I can - I'm doing this for the old chap who looks after the car-park that I park in and one good turn deserves another so to speak
Many thanks
Ed

Hi Ed
The passenger list index at the "findmypast" website has the following for a Jacob HARRISON :
HARRISON - Jacob Year of birth : 1881 From : Southampton to Wellington, NZ.. Year: 1921
Mmmm ... age is pretty close ?

Sorry, I don't have a subscription to this site so can't help with the name of the vessel. But somebody with a sub. may be able to help further.

Hi Lucy
I know that he was born in Ireland around 1886ish and that he was in the army I have his number 2164 and he was a Gunner and I have found his medal card, which the guy I'm doing this for was most pleased with. He then asked me if I could find when he came here, and the name of the ship that he came on. Jacob is the Grandfather of the carpark man I think that he knows his history after he got here but wanted to know a little more of things before
thanks again Ed
