Could some kind person help me find Jane Gardiner, or Gardner, born Old Cleve, Somerset, 1851/1852. I am trying to find who her parents were and if she had any brothers, or sisters. Jane married William George Sully, at Eastry, Kent, in 1887. Perhaps she will turn up in 1851 or 1861 censuses, for Somerset. All help will be very much appreciated.

Have you got the correct marriage date??
There is a marriage 1877 - but William Sully has no middle name?
Looks like you will need to purchase the marriage cert to be certain who father is

oh past master you beat me to the 1861 census, I was just about to type that one too !!!!! I would agree that it does look like Poor house for the address
only thing is she is down as B:1854 (so could be 1853) so sounds like there 2 Jane Gardners in the area........

Thank you all for your help on this matter. I feel sure that the parents of Jane were James & Sarah of 5 Middle Street, Carhampton. Jane married William Sully in Kent. They next turn up in the 1881 census at Walmer Calvary Barracks. William Sully is shown as SRGT R.M.L.I., aged 32, born Carhampton. In the 1871 Census is William Sully living at 9 Middle Street. I know this is the corredt family, as a relative has William's medals. Would it be possible to know where William & Jane, plus family, were living in 1891. He may have left the army.
Many thanks for all the information

Thank you all again for your latest information.
My final question was William Sully living at 9 Middle Street, Carhampton in the 1871 Census. if so do we know the names of his parents, plus occupation and names and ages of brothers/ sisters.

1871 census shows him at 'South Barracks' aged 20 as a Private
1851 Census - residence Carhampon Village
William Sully Head 35 Shopkeeper and Carpenter B:Dunster? Ann Sully Wife 31 Shop Employee B:Carhampton Eliza Sully Dau 7 Mary Sully Dau 5 Elizabeth Dau 3 William Son 1 all children B:Carhampton
there is a 1861 census that shows a william sully B:1852 in Old Cleeve but again this is a different William Sully
in 1861 Elizabeth is shown as living with her grandmother Mary Escott Inn Keeper aged 75 and a george cridland aged 25 boarder at King William Inn? On the same sheet there is also an Escott family shown living in Carhampton Village
I cant fnd anytrace of the others yet in 1861?
