CROKER, Bernard m. 1827 Buckfastleigh- anyone connected?
« on: Saturday 01 August 09 14:41 UTC (UK) »

Hi,

While my connection is not direct, I thought I'd post anyway:

Bernard CROKER married Mary WALLIS/WALLACE in her parish Buckfastleigh, April 1 1827.

She was born in 1806, the daughter of Dorothy FURNEAUX of Buckfastleigh & John WALLIS of St Giles Reading, Berks, belonging to the Berkshire Militia; who married in Buckfastleigh 30 Jan 1797

Mary Wallis was the stepdaughter of my ancestor, John STENTIFORD who as a widower, married Dorothy Wallis, widow, in Buckfastleigh in 1814.

I believe Bernard may be the son of John and Mary CROKER who was baptised in Staverton 16 Jan 1803.

The IGI also shows a Mary CROKER ch 11 Jan 1807 to a John and Mary - if they are siblings the Crokers must have moved to Buckfastleigh between 1803-1807.  Staverton is only 4 miles away.
