Trade Index Lookup please - place and name supplied

Hi,

I have recently found out that my Brentford, Middx. Thomas Hale was born in Stanstead Abbotts, Herts, 1829.

He became a Market Gardener with 32 acres and wondered if there are any Hale with trades recorded in Stanstead Abbots.

Do you know of other resources I could use to trace for Hale in Stanstead?

Hello Graham

I only offer lookups from the 1829/30 Trade Directory for Herts, which is clearly too early for your chap, but I have checked Stanstead Abotts in 1829/30 for other HALES without success I'm afraid.  Perhaps someone with a later trade directory may find something.

I did check the 1873 Return of Owners of Land for Hertfordshire, but there were no entries for HALE at Stanstead at this date.

I will check the 1841 Stanstead Abbots census for you later if you wish.  If you would like a 1851 Census Lookup, it might be a good idea to post again asking specifically for this, as I am sure someone would be able to help. 

HALS is the repository for all surviving Hertfordshire Records.

I checked Stanstead Abbotts in 1841, but I'm afaid that I couldn't find any HALES.
