Hi Kingskerswell,
Thanks for the quick reply! yes that is correct Jane is my gt gt grandmother. She married James McFarlane in Belfast and they then moved to Scotland. I am trying to find out where she lived with her parents Elizabeth and James Dickson in Dromore. I am scottish but living in England. I could get PRONI to look it up but they are charging 15 pounds for a 15 min search. I have no idea how long it will take them or indeed what info will be on the records. I have asked them by email June 9 but they have not replied. Also my nearest LDS is closing for the summer so are taking no further requests for film reels. I did email the church but also have had no reply as yet - i don't even know if they will look for me. I thought i would post on here in case anyone had them in their family tree.
Regards

Hi,
James McFarlane married Jane Dickson 21/11/1871 in Belfast (this was a stroke of luck as it was on the last child's birth cert (the only one who was born in Scotland also named Jane). Elizabeth,Maggie,Dugald,James and Ellen (my gt grandmother) were all born in Ireland.
I found the first born (below)
Civil Birth Date of Birth 13 Jul 1873 Name Elizabeth MCFARLANE Gender F Fathers Name James MCFARLANE Mothers Forenames Jane Mothers Maiden Name DICKSON
Civil District Newtownards Sub District Bangor County Down
Assuming Jane was about 20 when she married she was most likely still at home 1862/63 - on her death cert her father's occupation is Master Tailor.
Regards,

Hi Kingskerswell,
Yes you are right - years ago i was very confused as there were couples with the same name - but these are definitely the right ones. I really would like to know where James Dickson and Elizabeth Murphy lived as i can trace the McFarlanes when they moved to Scotland. I don't know where Jane Dickson met James McFarlane - maybe the Dicksons moved to Belfast for work. I would like to know if anyone out there has purchased a marriage cert (church record) from PRONI from round about that year 1834 and what info it had on it.
