Wow Wendy
They look better already, i wonder why she looks so fed up and angry!! not sure when this photo would have been taken. I know that they were still alive when my Gran and Granddad got married, and that was 1920. Am I right in saying that is an aspidistra!
Kind regards
Tidller

Yes, its an aspidistra !
One interesting botanical fact is that they do flower in the wild in Japan, but right down at ground level, where they are pollinated by snails !

Thanks Hippy and Wendy
Perhaps that is why she looks so troubled Wendy....
I am amazed at how much you can do with these photo's, you have all helped me to almost get a family album up together of my ancestor's for which i Will be for ever grateful.
Thank you once again, i am learning each time I come on this site. The snail is a revelation!!!

We NEVER see a thrush now.... and at the moment ALL that comes into the garden are 'Magpies' Pigeons and blackbirds.... the occasional Robin and a few little finches...
Never a sparrow or starling or thrush... .. I do have two cats but I've always had cats and it never stopped the birds before...
ho hum I am in the midlands.... anyone in this area see Thrushes....
what about you Rabbit???
