Bit of guesswork going on here, I'm afraid.
According to the IGI, SAMUEL HENRY SUTTON was born/baptised 11th May 1820 at St. Leonard's, New Malton, North Yorks., son of Robert and Sarah Sutton (nee Sheffield).
He's not with the family on the 1841 census - he will be the best part of 20 or 21 by now - and I can't check if he's dead or married before 1837. He certainly doesn't show up as a death anywhere from 1837 onwards, so I'm presuming that he ISN'T on the 1841 census.
But maybe YOU could prove me wrong?
Incidentally, I am having similar problems with his siblings, ELIZA SUTTON born/baptised 19th October 1825 Wintringham, North Yorks., and ESTHER SUTTON born/baptised 2nd July 1829 Wintringham, North Yorks. I can't find either of these two girls in terms of marriages or deaths post-1837 on FreeBMD.

Terrific! CHARLES WARD SUTTON was another sibling I've not found in the marriages or census returns, and his age is correct in 1841 - he was born/baptised in March of 1828, but I do know that he died in 1904.

Don't actually think that this one is mine - the father of my Suttons I believe was Robert Sutton born 1793ish, as that age would tie ion with the ages on the subsequent census returns that I have. I have found him in the 1841 census here ... Wintringham, Yorks. (HO107/1212/16 Folio 6 Page 7)
THIS chap - aged 65+ - would seem to have been born in 1776. Hey! He might be MY Robert Snr.'s father!!

 The chap enumerated as Jnr ... is shown as 40, so could be up to 44, ie b1797 oldest.
So the chap I assumed to be Father - born about 20 years earlier ... could indeed be Snr

Hi! I'm so excited that I can help you with your search for Samuel Henry Sutton. I am related to his mother, Sarah Sheffield. She and her husband, Robert Sutton stayed in Yorkshire, but Samuel (11 May 1820) and his brother, Robert (27 Jan 1819) emigrated to Steuben County, New York sometime after 1830. Sarah's brothers, Richard H Sheffield and Thomas B Sheffield emigrated to New York about 1819. Her sister, Elizabeth Sheffield Robinson emigrated to New York with her husband, William and four children - Eliza Jane, Ann, Charles and Margaret. Samuel Henry Sutton actually married his cousin, Margaret Robinson after he emigrated to New York. Margaret Robinson Sutton is buried in Addison, Steuben County, New York, so I'm willing to bet that Samuel is also buried there. They had 2 children, Robert W. Sutton, born 1858 in Addison, New York, and Charles R. Sutton, born 1861 in Addison, New York. Robert . Sutton committed suicide at his jewelry store - I'll have to check on the date, but it was sometime after 1880. I don't have the info on Samuel Henry Sutton's brother, Robert, at my fingertips, but I'm sure I can find out more if you are interested. I think I can send you the newspaper article on Robert Sutton's suicide if you would like. Hope this info helps.
