Shocked Duh! your right. Its my grandmothers brother = my fathers uncle. This stuff gets my head spinning sometimes! Its likely he was named after my grandmothers half-uncle who might be the Frederick in the 1911 Canada census.

Not sure what happened to Isobella either, between 1871 census and 1881 I cant find a death for her.

It appears she died in Carnoustie in 1944 aged 75, you'll find the death cert on S.P.

Thanks for the help, post by ev 1911 census that would be David S Hutton's son, he had a farm of his own before going to war.
Back to David S Hutton's half siblings..

It looks like Isobella may have lived her life out in Carnoustie. Frederick may have emigrated to Canada.

1891 cesus Gorbals, Glasgow

Annie Hutton 56
George Hutton 27
Fred Hutton 24
No John who would be 28

1901 census in Glasgow

George Hutton 37
Margaret Hutton 3
Annie Hutton 60

So George married and had a child and his wife died?
