Help, for a stuck Newbie
« on: Monday 29 June 09 21:25 UTC (UK) »

Please could someone tell me what I am doing wrong, if anything?

I have a copy of my grandmother's birth certificate showing her mother and father's names. I have found both of their birth records and the birth records for my grandmother's siblings. But I cannot find a record of their marriage? I have looked through the records for every year from up to ten years either side of the birth of their first child (1935) and I cannot find a thing!! I am looking on ancestry.co.uk on the england and wales marriage index.

Mother's Name is Ivy Lily Glanville B.1915 in Plymouth
Father's Name is Frederick Cyril Colmer B.1913 Devonport

Both are now deceased.

Please could someone point me in the right direction?

Hi,

Frederick C Colmer Plymouth (Spouse Glanville) September Quarter 1934 Volume 5b Page 728
Matching Entry for Ivy L Glanville  (spouse Colmer) with same references.

You are not doing anything wrong, but in the case of Frederick, Ancestry doesn`t like the September Quarter so just type in an alternative surname - like Colp and then use the "previous page" button.

For some reason that quarter is not showing on my search.

Have sorted for Frederick C Colmer using the date range 1935 +/- 5 years on the England and Wales serach???

Any ideas what I am doing wrong, have spent ages on this!!  Angry

Thank you so much for your help!!
