Hi,
Currently trying to find a Sarah Sophia Waters Maybe born in SA in meadows in about 1852 married in 1869 to Joseph James and died in 1919 in Newtown but there's little information on the NSW BDM certificate as the informant knew very little about Sarah.
If anyone could help would be very much appreciated

According to the marriage....Joseph JAMES married Sophia WATERS 01/04/1869 father of groom James JAMES and father of bride William Waters married at the PM Chapel Moonta Mines bride age 17 - groom 29, will try again on the birth

Yep that matches what i have for Joseph James he was 29 when he was married,

No sorry cant see a birth, some one else may have more luck there is 1 Sophia Sarah Dawes WATERS ( also regd under Dawes) but not until 1873 - so much to late

She is not giving us much to go on
BISA
JAMES Joseph died after 1878 occupation Storekeeper residence Wallaroo Mines, Moonta
married 1 Apr 1869 Moonta Mines SA Sarah Sophia nee WATERS father Wm born about 1851 Adelaide SA.
Like Daizi, I see no birth in SA. Unfortunately a lot of early births were not registered and there are many William Waters having children in SA.
There is a William WATERS and Harriett WEBB having children from 1844 - 1860 (the last three listed in Meadows). Unfortunately no entry in BISA, so I am unable to say if it connects.
One birth to Joseph and Sarah Sophia
JAMES Alma 31 Mar 1870 Wallaroo Mine Dist Dal 82 14 parents Joseph JAMES and Sarah Sophia WALLERS

Thanks for the reply,
It does sound like she's gonna be a tough nut to track down,
The birth of Alma is correct but the surname for her mother Sarah Sophia is incorrect.
Joseph James died in NSW at Hill End near Bathurst,
his daughter lily Ethel May James has Sarah Sophia Waters on the marriage cert and Sarah Sophia waters is listed as she was under 21 when she was married in 1903.
But Sarah Sophia Waters is an enigma for me atm
what you found in the marriage certificate sounds correct but this Joseph James was a Miner for both tin and copper I traced his line back to 1628 in Cornwall.

The Biographical Index of South Australia 1836-1885 is a biographical work about South Australians who were born or arrived in the colony during this period. It is available on CD but was originally published in four volumes. It is an excellent resource but not 100% accurate and there are errors and omissions.
The information was compiled by the South Australian Genealogy and Heraldry Society from data in archives, public records, private papers, and letters of administrations as well as contributions from individuals.
