Freebmd has the death reg in 1843 Glanford Brigg of an Ann Elizabeth Cotsworth.
Might be worth following this up through 1841 Census/Baptisms (if available) if only to discount her from the search.

Although totally not discounting the 1847 Ann Elizabeth HOLDSWORTH as my great grandmother I would like to explain my reasons for having doubt;
Death cert Annie SHAW nee Holdsworth,age 89, no Mothers name given. I find this unusual as she was living with a daughter who would surely have known her grandmother, who if she was Mary Nettlem/Holdsworth died in 1894. Time in New Zealand is 80yrs (arrival approx 1850) aged 9. This would make her born abt 1840. Could she have arrived in NZ with other family members?
Illeg.Birth There is a stillbirth reg. by David Holdsworth 1861, Mother Annie Holdsworth. If she was the one born 1847, she would have been only 14!
Marriage Cert to John SHAW 1869 Held at the house of Mrs Holdsworth. Does not say Mother as other certs I have. Annie of full age.
There are other reasons but will sort all my stuff tomorrow as I am sick with the flu
Trish
PS though I would put up a photo of Annie which was beautifully restored from a book article by the Photo Board here
INTERESTING sideline; The British can claim Iris Murdoch (the writer) as having English Grandparents as well as Irish. John and Annie Shaw were her grandparents So David Holdsworth one of her great Grand Fathers.

This is a dodgy entry.....London to Sydney 1857...Mr Holdsworth and 4 misses Holdsworth. The only other entry I found (Holdsworth)is way off beam.

Yes Hepburn, I have seen that too. Maybe another Holdsworth and daughters plus hopefully my Great Grandmother. Maybe a trip to State Library is in order. But as they would have been paying passengers maybe hard to find
I think tomorrow I will post a link to this on Aust and NZ board as it is amazing what some of them can come up with. Thanks, Trish

Thanks Lesanne
Think the only new things we have established so far is the death of Benjamin Holdsworth in 1829, aged 59, born c 1770, linen manufacturer. And possible siblings of David.

David married twice;
Mary Eliza TORR (1803-1839)Married 29/1/1834 Goxhill,Lincs Maria/Mary Eliza NETTLEM(1809-1894) Married 7/4/1840, Barton upon Humber, Lincs He had 4 children from the first marriage; David, 1834 Mary, 1836 John Torr, 1838 Ann Elizabeth, 1839 William,1841 James, 1842-1843 Eliza, 1844 James, 1845 (probably died 1845 also) Ann Elizabeth, 1847 (Ama Eliz. on census entry 1851)
Question
* Would David HOLDSWORTH have had TWO daughters named "Ann Elizabeth" ... especially if the earlier one (bc 1839) was still alive

Hi Lu,
That is what I am trying to establish as we cant find a conclusive death for the first one Unless it is just under Ann or she has been mistranscribed as 3 instead of 13. Coincidentally on another post someone has 3 daughters named Maria all on the same census entry:P
