Just to let you know I emailed Salford and they replied within an hour saying they couldn't find Dickenson Street. I emailed Manchester at the same time and got a reply to say they will reply within 10 days !!!!!!

Watch this space.

Thanks once again.

Thanks I will make a note of that. I am beginning to think there is a mistake on the birth cert. It says quite clearly 72 but the street only goes up to 22. I wonder if the registrar just misheard?

I checked the 1891/91/01 and 1911 census and there are only 22 houses on the street. I'm not sure about now as I don't know the area.

If she said 22 and it was misheard as 72 then I need to see who lived at 22 because on the 1911 the family lived at number 6. The family may have moved but can't see why when they had lived in the same house for years.

Mmmn I wonder if they were related to her or she deliberately lied? It's not a name I recognise. Don't suppose I will ever know now.

Thanks for all your help I really do appreciate it. Don't suppose you have access to the damaged pages of the 1851 by any chance? LOL

LOL I am being cheeky I know but I am looking for an Elizabeth Isherwood. She is on the 1841 in Back Hay Street Manchester with her husband John (I think it's the Collegiate Parish) age 57. I can't find her on the 1851 but she is living with her son William  now age 78 on the 1861 and her name is given as Betty.

I've spent hours looking under different names and spellings but so far found nothing.

Thanks for looking. I wonder where she was? There is one I found I think she was lodging with someone but the age was 10 years out so I dismissed it but you know what they were like for guessing ages so I'll have another look now.

Thank you for all your help.

It's a possible isn't it. If they lived in central Manchester would she have been buried in Harperhay? I'll look on the censuses and see if I can find one of the right age so I can elimate her.

Well the cemetery in Harpurhey is one of the oldest municipal cemeteries on that side of Manchester and opened in 1837. Here is a list of all cemeteries in Manchester past and present.

Wow what a useful site I'll copy it and it might give me a few ideas where to look when I find any deaths.

Thank you so much.
