Help with sending section of document Completed
« on: Tuesday 30 June 09 10:28 UTC (UK) »

I've been trying to send the 'cause of  death' section from a death cert. in the hope that somebody would be kind enough to help me solve the writing !  Unfortunately I am not yet 'with it' as far as computers are concerned and although I have followed instructions from the 'help' section of RC, I keep getting a message that says 'doc.invalid'.
Will someone be good enough to tell me where I'm going wrong and what I can do to put it right ?

Many thanks, cheers for now,

Arty Roll Eyes Embarrassed

Hi Arty,

It could be any number of things.  It would help us if you told us whether you are using PC or Mac, and what you named the file.  I presume if you are using a PC and software that allowed you to copy a portion from a (for instance) .jpg file, you saved it also with a .jpg extension.

I don't know, but suspect, that RC looks for certain file extensions, or at least a valid image format, on any image one tries to attach.

One thing you could try to do to verify that it is a valid image file format is open it up on your own computer first.

Many thanks for your reply Nick.  Couldn't get back with an answer before now,
have had a cataract removed today but it's coming right.
As I said previously, I'm not that au fait with computers just yet but getting there slowly.
When I tried to post the part of the birth cert concerning cause of death, it never worked and after looking at what I'd done, I saw it was invalid format for RC so that was the problem. I now find that the same part doc comes up as a JPG so I don't know what's going on !!
Anyway, as it now seems to be a JPG, I will try and post it tomorrow so we'll see then what happens and if it works, I might be able to solve the doctor's writing.  Watch this space !
Many thanks

Having another try at posting a section of birth cert. for decyphering !  I can read some of it.
The third line I think is 'cerebral aneurysm' and the last four lines seem to be 'certified by...... (name).
.......(unreadable) then 'coroner for West Ham after post mortem without inquest'
I have blown the piece up to A4 but still can't make sense of any more.  Though the cause of death seems to be 'cerebral aneurysm', I'm still curious to know the first two words ?
Could someone help please, I'll be very grateful.
I'm assuming of course that the posting gets on RC !!
Many thanks,

The first word looks as if it could be Ruptured and the second looks like Development but putting the two together doesn't make sense. Huh I think I need to take another look!

I just "Googled" Ruptured Cerebral Aneurysm and found results so I am thinking that the first word is as I thought. Any other offers?

I too was thinking ruptured. Could it be developmental ?

Looking at G***le, there are a lot of references to the development of cerebral aneurysms and the rupture thereof, which might be hugely enlightening to anyone who can understand the terminology!

I read it as
'Ruptured developmental cerebral aneurysm'

I like "developmental". I could see something else at the end of "development" but couldn't work it out.

I agree with this - the coroner's first initial seems to be 'J', and I think the surname might be Malone.
