« on: Tuesday 30 June 09 12:42 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to find out where my great grandad Thomas Truscott Bonney is from.  His Mother is from St Stephens in Cornwall but I can find nothing on the Bonney clan not sure where they hail from but think it must be Cornwall? if anyone has any information at all would be very grateful

Not sure if this will help, or only confuse things, but Boney (with one "n") is found in the Devon/Cornwall area. Are you sure about the spelling?

I noticed Truscott as a middle name for several people born in Cornwall on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

No Bonney [Boney] though.

Hello Sorry not replied
Thomas Truscott Bonney born 12 February 1858 he is quite the mystery man no census records for him at all from 1861 - 1911 he was supposedly born in St Stephens but only Truscotts there.  Also once my great grandmother Grace Brenton marries him around 1882-1883 she also disappears off the Census records, I say married but no marriage certificate for Grace Brenton.  I know she was in service and where she lived in 1881 and still unmarried, I know my Great Aunt Mabel was born in 1883 but no marriage certificate for groom name of Thomas Truscott Bonney to be found? why would he not appear on any census records from 1861 (he would about 3 then) up to 1911 when they lived in London very odd?

How do you know he was born in 1858 if he never appears. How do you know his Mum was born St Stephens if you dont know her name or who she married.

Where did you come up with the name of Thomas Truscott Bonney from because with no birth cert, no marriage cert no death cedrt no census documentation he sounds very imaginary (not being rude) so you must have something.

TELL ALL so that we can help. I am raring to go but have nothing yet.....

Whilst this might not help I think it's worth considering - the wife's name is correct and the husband's surname is close - what do you think?

Grace Brenton
1Q 1882  Pancras (1837-1901)  London, Middlesex  1b  136

The possible marriage partner is James Buney/James Bunney/James Bynney - for some strange reason this page has three different spellings for this man but the reference is the same, I can only assume it's one man!
