Hi there,
A Henry George Hamilton b1838 Dec was born at sea in the Bay of Calcutta. His birth was registered in 1839 in St James Calcutta, how do I go about getting a copy of his birth certificate.
Also his dad is called William and mum is called Caroline but I have no idea what year they were both born in or what year they married can anybody help me and point me in the right direction to go from here.
Thanks for any help

I know this, because it was on Heir Hunters yesterday. The BMD details of India up to 1857 are stored in the British Library in London.

Thanks for all info. Yes I have that Henry George Hamilton was married twice I have the marriage certificate and on there it says under William Hamilton father that he is deceased.
And I went back in the 1841 census looking for a William Hamilton but cant find him or Caroline, so I was thinking that they might of stayed in Calcutta for a while as Henry was born in 1838.
If that is the right married for William Hamilton does it say who his father was and where can I go to get that info.
Thanks once again

Hi there,
Yes it sounds like he was working a Hampton Court but who knows why he went to sea with a wife that gave birth also on the ship.
I did find out that a William Hamilton was bankrupt in 1829 in London don't know if this is the same person as it say formerly from Calcutta, so might be concected.
Thanks Alison
