Hi
I found a picture on ebay and in the end I bought it. I just want to know if you think it is the same person or not. There are similarities but I would like your opinion please.
The profile image was taken in 1932 and Thomas Crawford was born in 1871.

Can’t agree about the ears. Look at the way the bottom of the ear is joined to the head very different. Also in the small picture the ear is sticking out more, while in the large picture its far closer to the head. I know there’s an age difference but the eyes are sunk right in on the small picture. I would also say the man in the large picture is considerably bigger, look at the head and shoulders in the small picture it looks as if its almost to big for his body.
A good likeness but not the same man.

They are remarkably similar; I can see why you wondered. Just about every feature, if there's a difference, could be explained by lighting, ageing, expression etc.
Ultimately I have to agree with hippy & wendy though. Earlobes stood out immediately to me & are far too different to be a match.
I've had some real disappointments with my research lately too (many!) but I really reckon one dissapointment gives way to another something cool. 
btw you could always dub him Mr. Doppleganger & "adopt" him anyway

I have to disagree Hippy,
both ears have lobes,but with age they've "dropped" and they lean back on both pictures instead of sitting up,both chins have slight cleft...The only thing I think is a bit dodgy is the nose...

There are similarities but the difference in the chin and nose
make me think they are not the same man - even allowing for aging.

Tops of ears do not match in their level with the eyes, and the noses are differant . One has a sharply pointed end, and the other rounded.
Not the same man, disappointing for you though.

Thankyou all for having a look at my photograph. I've had mixed reactions and I know we wont know for certain but it gave us something to ponder.

I think it's the same man.
When people age, ears get larger, noses get larger and more flared. The top picture was badly taken with the sun causing shadows on the face, which makes the eyes appear more sunken.
