Searching for information on a Sarah ? born in 1816, in East Dereham and married a James Lawrence.  They moved to London and had a son by the name of William born in 1847 in Middlesex and that's about as much as I know of her. She shows on the 1871 census living with her family, William and his wife Elizabeth Jane Wickes.
Info on her maiden name, parents etc would be appreciated

Hi

I see that on the 1871 William was born Middlesex St John, so the 1851 and 1861 could be correct Huh. Plus they are still living in St John the Evangalist, Westminster

I wonder if this is William's birth registration?

The certificate will show  Sarah's maiden name.

Thank you both for responding, it has certainly given me a few avenues to explore.  Sarah's marriage in 1857 would make her 41 and William is her stepson, so Jan that wouldn't give me Sarah's maiden name however as she isn't related that's not too much of a worry, what his birth cert will give me is his real mum's name as she has either died or divorced so I will try that suggestion thanks.  On William's son's birth cert they were living at 41 Vauxhall bridge road, Westminster in the district of St John, Middlesex in 1871 so it seems to have a common theme.
In the 1851 census William is 4 and shows as her son, whilst in the 1861 he becomes her stepson so a bit of confusion there, again I think his birth cert may help me there.
I wonder who the George is on the 1851 census?
Ricky just read your latest addition. I had that info, though on the census Wicks shows as Weeks. What is interesting is that William's wife is Elizabeth Jane Wicks which makes me think perhaps they are related.  I need to find out her siblings.  Many thanks for this probably wouldn't have made the connection without it.

Oh!   I never thought of that. So his mum is Sarah, it's his dad that is the mystery.  Thinking about this, she was a Lawrence (could this be George) who married another Lawrence (james), so probably looking for the death of George somewhere between 1851 and 1861 and quickly looking at bmd there are a few!
