I'm new to this so if I go wrong , I hope someone will please put me right.

I'm trying to find the parents of my 2xG/grandfather, JOHN KNIGHT. This is the info that I have on him.
Christened-- Oct 27/1799 East Grinstead Sussex
Married--June 02/1824       ~          ~             ~      to CHARLOTTE PARKER.
Died--1866 East Grinstead Sussex.
Census Entries
1841--No trace
1851--Living with Charlotte & family @ East Grinstead Common,Brickmaker, born Lingfield, Surrey.
1861--   ~      ~          ~      &  3 remaining children living at home, names & ages agree  10 yrs on with previous census.This time he is born in  East Grinstead. Brickmaker.

In the 1841 census, there is a CHARLOTTE MARTIN living in East Grinstead with a JOHN MARTIN & children the same name, sex & age as the 1851 census shows (taking into account the 10 year difference)for JOHN KNIGHT.
The LDS website gives JOHN KNIGHT'S mother as a MARY KNIGHT but whether this is a married  or maiden name , I have no idea, I can find no marriage either,so I'm left with useless suspicions. Hoping someone can help me get through this wall.Thanks

Hi,

There are two John Knights baptised in East Grinstead in the time frame.

John Knight bap 27 Oct 1799 St Swithin East Grinstead Base Born Mother: Mary Knight
John Knight bap 27 Jul 1800 St Swithin East Grinstead Father: Richard Mother: Elizabeth

The only Mary Knight I can see baptised in East Grinstead is the following
Mary Knight bap 20 Jun 1762 St Swithin East Grinstead Father: William Mother: Elizabeth
