1861 Keston Common, Keston, Kent
George BEADLE head mar 61 ag lab b.Cudham Kent Elizabeth wife 57 b.Croydon Surrey Selina dau 13 b.Keston Edwin son 12 b.Keston Amos son 10 b.Keston Thomas son 5 b.Keston
RG9/462 folio 103 page 8
James and David were not living at home so I presume they were servant/son in law in the households where they were living at the time.
The address (Keston Common) in this census is in the "road, street and number or name of house column".

Thank you so much Casalguidi! You're a star So now it looks like they had 10 children! I wonder if they were catholics, I know Amos's grandson is! - they were married at St John the Baptist Church in Croydon - would that be a Catholic church I wonder.
I really really appreciate your help, thanks again.
I had a pay per view thing with Genes-reunited, but wonder if there is a better website I should go to for finding out this kind of thing?... How about ancestry.co.uk?

Hi Caroline
No, they weren't Catholic - all the baptisms for the children which appear on the IGI http://www.familysearch.org are C of E. St John the Baptist in Croydon is also C of E.
I haven't used any resources via Genes-Reunited so I'm afraid I can't compare with anything else. Why not post on the "Census Resource Discussion" board here on Rootschat and ask if anybody can advise. Ancestry does have all the census returns and I believe they do a 14 day free trial (free so long as you remember to cancel before the 14 days is up).

so where did you find out that the christenings were in a C of E church? I cant seem to find that, on the Familysearch IGI pages where they're listed.

Hi Caroline
On the IGI if you do a parent search ie enter names of parents George BEADLE and Elizabeth together with county (Kent and Surrey) but nothing else you will find a number of baptisms for children listed. Does that help?
