James Kelly J.P. was a great uncle of mine and I would like to get as much information about him as I can, including tracing his descendents.

Hi

Was he also born in Newcastle under Lyme or elsewhere?

Was 1942 his birthyear or the year he was mayor?

If it was the year he was mayor - when was he born?

Do you have his birth cert showing who his parents were?  If not that should be your main starting point in tracing his ancestry
